Washington DC In The Dark

We’d planned a lovely afternoon walking around the monuments in Washington but it didn’t happen.  Our plane out of Toronto was late.  We waited 55 minutes in queue at Homeland Security to be allowed into the U.S. (next time we’re going to fly out of Pearson where you clear customs in Canada).  We waited 45 minutes for a taxi.  We watched the sun set from the traffic jam between the airport and the hotel – a combination of peak hour and car accidents.  Thankfully the monuments are all lit at night and we got great views, great photos, and no crowds. We’d even had a really friendly police officer explain to us that you can’t take pictures of the White House with tripods set up.

We grabbed a bit to eat at Woodward Table, a really nice looking place with OK food but terribly unfriendly service.  It soured our evening.
